Balatro Expands Decks with Free Crossover Skins Update

Indie card battler Balatro brings a wave of fan-favourite collaborations, completely free.

If you thought Balatro couldn’t get any more surprising, think again. Today, the beloved indie hit rolls out its “Friends of Jimbo (Pack 4)” DLC, delivering a fresh lineup of cosmetic card skins featuring characters from iconic franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Fallout, and Slay the Princess. Best of all? It’s completely free for all players.

True to its player-first philosophy, this update introduces a slew of new cosmetic card skins without altering gameplay balance, keeping the core mechanics intact while expanding visual variety. Players can now deck out their cards with characters from a wide array of beloved franchises, including Assassin’s Creed, Fallout, Rust, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Slay the Princess, Critical Role, Bugsnax, and Dead by Daylight. These collaborations inject a fresh aesthetic flair to Balatro’s poker-inspired gameplay, letting players personalize their decks in whatever way they desire.

The DLC is available for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, and mobile devices (iOS & Android). In addition, the game’s recent addition to Xbox Game Pass has made it even easier for newcomers to jump in and explore the expanding universe of Balatro.

Developer LocalThunk has long emphasized ethical monetization, and this free DLC reinforces that commitment, providing players with new content without the pressure of microtransactions. Fans can also look forward to the next major update, which promises gameplay enhancements and new strategic elements, further enriching the Balatro experience.

With “Friends of Jimbo (Pack 4),” Balatro continues to stand out in the indie space, offering free, meaningful content and a community-first approach that few other games match. Will you be checking out this DLC? Sound off in the comments.

I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
