Forza Horizon 5 Is A Roaring Success On PS5

Just a month after launch, Xbox’s Forza Horizon 5 has sold over 2 million copies on the PlayStation 5, further enforcing the desire for multiplatform titles.

When Forza Horizon 5 was announced to be coming to Sony’s PlayStation 5, it left people feeling divided. Fans of the racer we're happy to see more players join in, seeing more fans of the franchise as a good thing and that PlayStation players would enjoy the excellent arcade racer. On the other hand, doomsayers signaled it as the end times of Xbox as a competitor in the industry.

Regardless of what viewpoint you end up taking, there's no denying that the multiplatform strategy continues to pay off for Microsoft, however, as it's been reported that Forza Horizon 5 has sold two million copies in the space of a month. The open-world arcade racer launched on PS5 on April 29th, and had been reported to sell two million copies by the end of May.

The news doesn't come via Microsoft themselves, but rather a Turn 10 employee who worked on setting up cross-play for the racer across all platforms. Shared on the LinkedIn of Turn 10’s Harrison B. (found by Twitter user Timur222), it definitely shows the PlayStation fan base are eager to try new experiences when they're offered, especially a former exclusive like the Forza Horizon series.

During my own research, it seems Harrison B’s LinkedIn has been amended to omit the mention of the sales figures for PlayStation, as depicted below.

Are you interested in seeing more titles go multiplatform like Forza Horizon 5 and Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2? Let us know in the comments.

I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
