Next Peek At Mafia: The Old Country Announced For Early May

With the release just around the corner, 2K Games are starting to add to the hype with the announcement of a new trailer for Mafia: The Old Country at PAX East.

2K and Hangar are taking Mafia back to its roots. Or the roots of the roots, as Mafia: The Old Country is set in the early 1900s

It won’t be long before we get our hands on the next entry in the Mafia series, with the release of Mafia: The Old Country set for a summer release. Until then, the developers have teased a little update on when we can expect a new update for the upcoming crime-filled action-adventure.

Hangar 13 has announced that a new trailer for Mafia: The Old Country will premiere at PAX East on May 8th. Promising the mark of the next chapter, the new gameplay trailer will take place at 4pm BST, with an in-depth “Family Takes Sacrifice” developer panel following a little later at 7pm BST.

Taking the Mafia series out of the United States and back to 1900s Sicily is a bold step for the franchise, setting up a story where players will uncover the origins of the mob and organized crime as new protagonist Enzo Favara and his eventual rise within the Torrisi crime family.

The Old Country will be taking a step back in terms of gameplay, focusing on a more linear, story-driven experience similar to the first two Mafia titles. Built in Unreal Engine 5, Hangar 13 has also promised enhanced visual fidelity and a focus on authenticity in a bid to make The Old Country as accurate as possible.

With a gameplay trailer set for May 8th, fans can get a look at how Mafia: The Old Country plays and see if any interesting new gameplay features will be featured in the full game when it launches on August 8th. I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
