Rumour Has It: Bethesda Is Currently Working On Multiple Fallout Games
Rumours are abound that there are multiple Fallout games currently in development over at Bethesda, including one “you're all wanting.”
I don’t want to set the world on fire, I just want a new Fallout
After the wild success of the Fallout TV show on Amazon Prime last year, it's surprising Microsoft and Bethesda didn't try to capitalize on the interest it generated. If they had at least one Fallout project in the works to coincide with the launch of the show, it would have helped tide fans over until the inevitable second season, which is due later this year.
While there were a few minor updates for Fallout Shelter and Fallout 76 to tie things into the show, neither of those were new experiences for players to engage in. As such, players returned in droves to the older Fallout titles to scratch the itch given by Fallout on Prime, most notably Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4. If the latest batch of rumours is to be believed, Microsoft and Bethesda have since taken note and greenlit multiple Fallout titles.
The information comes via VGC’s Jordan Middler during a guest appearance on the Friends Per Second podcast. “There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including, as far as I'm aware, that one you're all wanting, but it's not far enough along to say anything that's like, you're going to be playing this game any time soon.”
We don’t know what Fallout games they are, or how many, but if the leaked court documents from the 2023 Activision-Blizzard acquisition (the same documents that leaked the Elder Scrolls IV Remaster) are to be believed, one of those games will likely be a remaster of Fallout 3. “The one you’re all wanting” could be a remaster of Fallout: New Vegas, but it could just as easily be Fallout 5, which is set to arrive after Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls VI.
I would personally love if Microsoft took developers from Bethesda and Obsidian and created a new studio specifically for Fallout games, similar to having The Coalition and 343 focusing on one franchise. Which Fallout would you like to see first? Let us know in the comments.
I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
