Two “Age of” Games Coming To The PlayStation Library
Two more Xbox exclusives are set to come to PlayStation later on this year, Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.
It’ll take some adjustment to see Xbox Game Studios on PS5.
Microsoft has announced that both Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition are heading to PlayStation 5 sometime this year. Both games join other previous Xbox exclusives in Microsoft’s desire to expand their Xbox franchises to other ecosystems, namely Sony’s PlayStation. Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will launch on PS5 with full feature parity with their Xbox and PC counterparts, but Microsoft has also added that the titles will both be receiving brand-new expansions for all versions.
Intent on bringing the franchise to more players, the developers over at World’s Edge have said they’re keen on strengthening the Age of community through cross-play to create “one global battlefield where every strategy, every empire, and every player matters.”
I can assure you the graphics are most likely better when not stretched to fit a screen.
Of the two titles, we do actually have a release date for one. Age of Mythology: Retold launches on March 4th on PlayStation 5, bringing with it the Immortal Pillars expansion which adds in the all-new Chinese pantheon to the ever-expanding real-time strategy game. Those players on PS5 who are interested in shelling out for the Premium Edition can also get their hands on two exclusive blessings for the Arena of the Gods mode and five days early access, starting on February 27th with access to the Immortal Pillars expansion launching on March 4th alongside the core launch.
Adding a little extra clarification, World’s Edge confirmed that every game date will launch on all platforms simultaneously - no waiting around for new fans of the series!
Speaking about Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, the developers were not quite ready to share a release date, but they did say that it’s due this spring. And when it does hit the PS5, it comes with “one of the most exciting DLC expansions for Age II: DE yet, packed with fresh new content, new civilizations for Ranked play.”

I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
