EA Announce Battlefield 6 With A Brief Teaser

On the back of a trailer about their new service, Battlefield Labs, EA have also revealed a brief look at the next game currently in production in the series, most likely to be announced as Battlefield 6.

Finding a decent quality shot in a fast-paced short clip is surprisingly difficult. Thanks, EA.

During an announcement video on their new Battlefield Labs project, EA slipped in a little teaser for their next Battlefield-looking title. If not Battlefield, why Battlefield-shaped? That being said, it would have been funny if it was a new entry in their now-dormant Medal of Honor franchise. But then it wouldn’t be part of the Battlefield Labs announcement.

Over the course of the 5 minute long video, the developers over at DICE walk us through just exactly what Battlefield Labs entails. They start by giving us an overview of just how many teams are working on the next Battlefield game and what each team is focusing on.

Usually, too many different teams working on a project can be a bit hectic and lead to the developers clashing over the direction the franchise should take, but with different studios focusing on different areas of Battlefield 6, that may not be the case here.

As the video progresses, DICE and their partner studios open up on what exactly Battlefield Labs is. In short, it’s a way for fans of the franchise to sign up and give feedback to the developers as each build goes live for Labs.

Players can pass on their thoughts on what works well and what needs refinement and the developers take their opinions into account to help fine tune the game. Now, this is pretty common in the gaming industry, though it doesn’t always pan out to the fan’s liking. The key take away here is that DICE are gathering player feedback before the game even launches, which is less common outside the early access medium.

During this announcement, DICE reveal that the next entry in the Battlefield franchise is currently in pre-alpha stage and openly encourage players to sign up to Battlefield Labs to “build Battlefield together.”

Players will get the chance to help refine how weapons, destruction, maps, game modes, gadgets, vehicles, and so much more. Many of these are core features of how well a Battlefield game feels to play and getting the chance to play with so many different options will surely help reduce the chances of Battlefield 6 launching in a bad state, à la Battlefield 2042.

We do finally get a brief look at Battlefield 6 in action. The franchise seems to be heading back to what makes the series so popular to begin with: squad-based, boots on the ground, semi-realistic combat with class roles on large, destructible maps.

Though the clip only lasts about 10 seconds and can be subject to change, Battlefield 6 appears to be a return to form over the misfire of Battlefield 2042. Here’s hoping the option to build fortifications returns from Battlefield V.

I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
