Xbox Announces Retro Classics Featuring Over 50 Activision Classics

Another 50+ retro titles are now playable on modern hardware as Xbox has unveiled Retro Classics for Xbox Game Pass, giving older games a new lease on life.

Activision classics are back en force

The best deal in gaming just got better. Over 50 classic titles from the Activision back catalogue of games have been made playable through Xbox Game Pass as part of its brand-new Retro Classics addition, scoring another small win for game preservation.

Installed via Game Pass, Retro Classics is depicted as a single title totalling over 400MB, available to all tiers of Game Pass. Buried deep within Classics are the titular classics from Activision’s earlier days such as Commando, Pitfall, and Mech Warrior 2: 31st Century Combat.

“Game Pass members can access Retro Classics through their Game Pass membership by searching and installing the feature via their console or on the Xbox app on PC,” the Xbox Wire post states. “Additionally, players can take on friends, rivals, or the entire world with unique challenges.”

This new-old release comes via a partnership with Antstream Arcade. While there are currently over 50 classic titles to dive into and try for yourself, Microsoft says the Retro Classics collection will grow to include over 100 games total over time.

Retro Classics is available today to all Game Pass players. Will you be diving in to check out some old Activision titles? Let us know in the comments.

I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
