Xbox Games Showcase Announced Alongside The Outer Worlds 2 Direct
Always one to get ahead of the curve for summer showcases, Microsoft has confirmed their 2025 Xbox Games Showcase for this summer, followed by a The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.
Another Direct focusing on one of the next big titles has been announced, keeping in line with previous years
As is tradition for Microsoft these past few years, they have announced their next big showcase to slot in nicely with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. Following January’s stellar Developer Direct and their ID@Xbox Showcase, the next date we can expect to see a big info dump on upcoming Xbox games will be Sunday, June 8th.
Following the precedent of previous summer Showcases, this Xbox stream will feature an in-depth dive into Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds 2, which was announced at E3 back in 2021 at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase with a tongue-in-cheek trailer announcing the title was ready… and not much else. We’ve since had some more updates on The Outer Worlds 2, but this Direct will lift the curtain back so we can see much more of the goofy sci-fi goodness we’ve come to love from Obsidian.
Many of the games shown at the Xbox Games Showcase will be coming to other platforms, first and foremost being PC. But that doesn’t rule out some announcements of more releases being day and date on Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Nintendo’s Switch 2 as Xbox continues to push for an all-inclusive gaming future. We will most likely see quite a few World Premiere announcements of games that might be an Xbox timed exclusive or feature additional content, as Microsoft is not shy about showing off other developers’ and publishers’ talents during their own showcase, putting many more eyes on releases that may otherwise be overlooked.
Sony tends to do their own thing around the summertime, and we recently had the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct that gave us the release date of their console, arriving mere days before Xbox’s next showcase.
Will you be tuning in to the Xbox Games Showcase or will you catch the Outer Worlds 2 Direct afterwards? Let us know in the comments.
I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
