Lightgun Gaming Returns To Our Screens Shortly

If you're an older gamer who misses the days of lightgun shooters or the nostalgic feel of a plastic gun in your hands from down in the local arcade, you'll be happy to know lightgun gaming is on its way back.

To more recent gamers, this news might not be as interesting to you. But to older gamers like myself, or those who like to try new (old) things, this could be right up your alley. Lightgun gaming lets you put your shooting skills to the test in a more hands-on approach over traditional first-person shooters.

And with the launch of the Retro Shooter RS3 Reaper, games like House of the Dead and Time Crisis may once more give us the chance to shoot zombies, dinosaurs, or just plain old villains in a way that will feel refreshing if you are jaded by the standard FPS fare. Let's just hope we get a second shot at that Duck Hunt dog, right?

Now that something like the Retro Shooter RS3 Reaper is on its way to release, on-rails shooters may become popular once again. I never thought we'd see another lightgun unit due to the changes in modern TVs which ruled out the use of older lightguns. But, like the original lightguns, that now appears to be a thing of the past as the Retro Shooter is designed with newer TVs in mind.

The setup does come with a small number of games available to play, but more importantly, it features full connectivity with PC, meaning you can plug it right in to access a far greater library through Steam. The set even comes with two lightguns, so co-op, split-screen or otherwise, is a great way to have some fun with family or at game night.

If you're interested in picking up a set, it's worth checking out the website over at the Retro Shooter website as they offer a number of lightgun products for players and developers alike.

I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
