System Shock 2 Remaster Console Versions Delayed

Though the PC version is going ahead as planned, the console release of System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster has been delayed.

Nightdive Studios has announced that the console release of the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will not be launching alongside the PC version as initially expected. The console ports have now officially missed the planned launch date of June 26th.

If you've been hoping to pick up the remaster on current-gen consoles, you're currently out of luck, as developers Nightdive Studios have run into a bit of a snag. The console release will be pushed back by a few weeks, with the team providing an estimated release in the first two weeks of July. Once the team has a set release date, they will be sharing the update on their socials.

The original System Shock 2 was well-received by critics and fans alike when it hit our screens back in 1999. The action role-playing survival horror trapped players aboard a desolate spaceship named the Von Braun, trying to quell a genetic infection that has turned the entire ship on its head and hopefully make it out the other side alive.

Forgoing a full blown remake, Nightdive instead chose to do a remaster with the intention of preserving as much of the game’s original identity as possible. The remaster route gives the developers leeway to focus on certain aspects that may not have aged well over the years, such as improvements to graphics and performance, and the ability for the game to play on consoles.

How do you feel about the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster delay on consoles? Will you wait a little longer or pick it up on PC instead? Let us know in the comments.

I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
