Phil Spencer Provides Update On Xbox-Exclusive Everwild
It’s not dead! After a long period of time with no definitive news, it’s been confirmed that Xbox’s exclusive Everwild is still in development.
After being rebooted more than Duke Nukem (probably), Everwild is still on it’s way to Xbox and PC.
I suppose no news is good news, as Everwild has not been cancelled. In fact, during the latest interview with Xbox Game Studios head honcho, Phil Spencer, confirmed the long-awaited exclusive from Rare is still in active development and due out… at some point.
Originally announced way back in 2019, there hasn’t been much in the way of news since then, save for the odd delay here and there. After a number of years without any sign of a release date, during an XboxEra podcast, Spencer went on to say “I was recently out at Rare. It’s nice to see the team with Everwild and the progress they’re making,” while discussing his favourite games that haven’t been released as of yet.
“And we’ve been able to give those teams time in what they’re doing which is good, and still have a portfolio like we have. It’s like a dream that Matt [Booty] and I have had for a long time, so it’s finally good to be there. We can give those teams time,” Spencer finished.
The last time we had word Everwild was still in development was back in 2023, but even before that little tidbit, we didn’t have much to go on. There’s always been an air of mystery around the game, but having no solid information about the type of game it is, paired with the overall lack of news and the rumoured development reboots have left people guessing what is happening behind the scenes. At least we have confirmation it is still progressing, albeit a little slowly. Are you still interested to see Rare’s next title? Let us know in the comments!
I created this website as I feel the state of the games industry and games reporting as a whole has gotten overly negative and full of clickbait. While I understand both of these are a great way to generate engagement, it’s a detriment to those gamers (like myself) that are just trying to enjoy games and not have to worry about the negativity of the current state of the gaming industry. I want a space where gamers can come for unbiased news that doesn’t rely on clickbait or rumours with a dash of humour and have the opportunity to share their passion for games.
